On a forklift, you'll find a variety of different ways that lower and raise the lifts, such as: rack and pinion lifts, scissor lifts, telescoping lifts, screw lifts and articulated lifts. The scissor lift utilizes crisscrossed folding supports and a screw mechanism that draws the members together. Rack and pinion lifts utilize a pinion, which is a small drive gear, to drive a straight-toothed rack to raise the cargo. The telescoping lift system is designed with many sections which retract and extend into and out of each other to achieve lifting action. Screw lifts use threads to raise the lift. Articulated lifts use a mechanism involving multiple sections that unfold or articulate. An articulated lift example is the "cherry picker."
Lift truck Material Handling
In material handling methods, there is many reasons to keep up with innovations. Material handling tools and the processes can be utilized to deal with additional SKUs, increased geographical coverage, and the requirement to lower inventories. Tools that are well ahead of the technological curve could help maximize production and increase effectiveness.
Forklift Battery & Charging Technology
The choice to convert from conventional, internal combustion lift trucks to electric lift trucks is a wise one as the latest line-ups of electric lift trucks offer higher capacities and longer run-times than ever before. Battery and charger combinations are offering more power for longer periods than older systems could achieve. Improvements in charger and battery technologies are not only making electric forklifts more productive but they are making it possible to have warehouse operations that are more environmentally friendly.
These new batteries are known as Li-ion batteries or Lithium-Ion batteries. This technology is still somewhat new, however Li-ion batteries show incredible promise. They are not just smaller but are capable of holding up to six times the charge of standard lead acid batteries. Li-ion batteries have extremely low maintenance requirements and can maximize opportunity charging through zero memory technology.
