Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries during the year 1966, after he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift which functioned on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was utilized to raise and lower the hoist. This device greatly impressed clients and thus, the name was born.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into different new markets, because the need for work lifts and platforms grew. Over time, when the demand for new equipment to meet many applications grew, the company made itself recognized in many new markets. For example, Genie went into production with articulated booms, light towers, man-lifts, stick booms and telehandlers.
Due to the economic recession during the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to obtain a partner who had the same values. They partnered up along with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring equipment manufacturers across the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the first years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Therefore, all Genie machinery continue to be sold under the Genie brand name.
Genie takes pride in listening to their customers. The company is dedicated to continually improving efficiency and quality and is also committed to minimizing waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing outstanding support. These are the very work disciplines that have made Genie a trusted brand name over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality equipment.
The DC and Bi-Energy machines offered by Genie provide quiet operation, emission-free even in the most delicate work settings. Where the machinery should be driven significant distances, like for example in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC machine along with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Telescopic booms provide more horizontal reach, compared to any of the various aerial platforms. These machinery are ideal for small areas or limited access areas in all kinds of settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to offer utmost productivity. These equipment deliver supreme traction and the drive speed you require to be able to travel around the job area and work site.
