The forklift is a material handling device used to lift and move loads from one location to another. Each and every forklift component has a particular function. Different parts could be used to transport the load either vertically or horizontally.
Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the components which lower and lift the load. There are various kinds of masts utilized for raising loads to different heights: quad, simplex, duplex and triplex.
Power Supply
There are four different ways you could power a forklift: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is located inside the cab underneath the seat. The propane tank is situated on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is under the back of the truck.
Cab
The forklift cab is situated within the center of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The steering wheel, gas pedal, tilting controls, brake and lifting controls are all situated inside the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the biggest forklift components is the frame of the truck. This consists of the counterweights situated at the back which prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the wheels, driveshaft and axles.
