Reach Truck
In order to keep storage areas tidy and to stock up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be used. The reach truck is available in several kinds: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This version consists of telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not only slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This version is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Within most warehouses, there are normally more than one kind of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and can make the most of available storage space while increasing production.
