Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm that is located on a rotating turntable. Typically, telescoping boom lifts are used for tasks that need reaching at maximum height, exceeding other kinds of lifts. Like for example, workers are able to carry out exterior repairs or renovations on buildings of medium height but using these lifts instead of having the extra work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one person. These buckets are more suited to particular jobs like for instance electrical repair, as opposed to general maintenance or window washing. These lifts come in gas or electric configurations and are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces under the work platform. These braces squeeze together in order to push the platform straight up. Because these types of machinery should be positioned directly below the work site, as opposed to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, offer larger platforms that enable the operator controlling the lift to access a bigger work surface when the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a problem with these models, because they must sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for window installation or cladding, because they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a good option for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Boom trucks, bucket trucks and cherry pickers each refer to the class a kind of utility vehicle utilized specifically for vertical work. Usually, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the equipment. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand in addition to an actuator arm for raising the boom and a winch for carrying.
Cherry pickers can lift workers up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to lift both heavy materials and equipment for one location to another. There are a variety of different crane types that could carry out a variety of purposes. Both of these different types of machines excel at different jobs and are suitable for certain applications and finishing particular tasks.
