To give you an idea of the cost, a Nissan Propane Forklift dating from the latter part of the 1990s will run you about $11,000 to $14,000. More than likely, you will be able to find a model like this with less than 5,000 operating hours, around 15 feet of lifting capacity and cushion tires. However, a second-hand Nissan forklift truck that has less than 5,000 hours can be found for under $7,000. This alternative may be a little bit of an older model than several others, but bear in mind; everything revolves around the operating hours. A unit like this will most likely have a pretty good load capacity of roughly 5,000 lbs.
Newer Nissan forklifts from the year 2005 to the current year, can be found priced near $10,000. Typically, these models will have a regular lift capacity ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 pounds. Usually, a unit similar to this will have cushion tires and run smoothly. Of course, newer units generally work smoother compared to older ones.
Kinds of Forklifts
The lift truck is generally categorized in 2 different manners: by the type of fuel it takes and the structure of the forklift. Based on structure, the following kinds of forklifts are amongst the most common:
Standard Forklift: Standard forklifts include the familiar warehouse lift truck. These lift trucks offer a lifting capacity of 3,000 to 5,000 pounds. They have a height capacity of approximately 20 feet.
Reach Forklift: Often known as a narrow aisle forklift, the reach lift truck is the kind of equipment that is found in warehouses and distribution centers where space is at a premium. Narrow construction means that it could not carry as much as a standard lift truck model, however, it has an extendable mast that could easily carry loads around 40 feet.
Telescopic Forklift: The telescopic forklift is also known as a telehandler, or a telescopic handler or sometimes even an extendable reach forklift. These equipment are more rugged and more heavy duty compared to the conventional forklift. These units provide a telescopic boom that could be raised up and extended out. Normally, these models are used on rough terrain. They are able to could handle loads up to 70 feet high
Straight Mast Forklift: Straight mast lift trucks are also normally used in rough terrain applications. These kinds of lift trucks could only move loads vertically, unlike a telescopic unit. These units could reach a height of 10 to 30 feet, while raising loads up to 12,000 lbs.
